Pumpkin is a well-known product for Bulgarians, it is present on our table in various forms, it is used to make many dishes. Nutritionists appreciate it because it is filling and its caloric content is low (compared to potatoes, for example, pumpkin has four times fewer calories). Pumpkin, like any fruit and vegetable, produces a delicious and healthy juice. The valuable properties of the drink are indisputable: its saturated color is due to beta-carotene in the composition, which under the influence of enzymes is easily converted into vitamin A, known as an antioxidant and growth vitamin. If you add a teaspoon of unrefined vegetable oil (a source of vitamin E) to the drink, you will get a real "cocktail of youth".
Pumpkin contains vitamins C, A, K, PP, group B, as vitamin K is a unique component, as it is not found in other vegetables, it normalizes blood clotting. The mineral composition consists of iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, and their concentration in the juice is higher than in the fleshy part of the fruit and vegetables. All these elements help to maintain immunity, to remove excess fluid, to normalize metabolism and to fight anemia.
Pumpkin pulp is a rich source of pectin - a special type of soluble cellulose, an enterosorbent that cleanses the blood of toxic substances, radionuclides, and blood vessels - of cholesterol plaques. Pectin plays an important role in metabolism, improves peripheral blood circulation and normalizes intestinal peristalsis.
The drink does not irritate the gastrointestinal tract, like most vegetable juices, so it can be taken even with gastritis and pancreatitis, especially accompanied by increased stomach acidity.
Pumpkin juice is useful for those suffering from cardiovascular disease, helps men to retain their strength and energy for a long time, successfully copes with colds. Vitamins A and E contribute to the fight against aging and wrinkles. B vitamins help relieve stress and the strength of hair and nails.
The drink is good to drink for liver disease, as it cleanses the body well. It also helps with insomnia.
Despite the many benefits for the body, pumpkin juice has contraindications for use. It is not suitable for consumption by people with low stomach acidity, acute gastrointestinal disorders, propensity to diarrhea, because the liquid is a strong purifier, which can irritate the gastrointestinal tract and exacerbate the above diseases.
