Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor that usually starts on the outside of the gland.

In most men, this process develops very slowly. Many of them do not even realize that they have prostate cancer. In the early stages, the disease is limited to the gland. It may take years before symptoms appear.

Prostate cancer is rare in men under the age of 45, with most cases diagnosed after the age of 50. In addition, the actual incidence is probably significantly higher than reported, as many men live with undiagnosed prostate cancer.
