The weight loss diet has better results when the level of vitamin D in the body is stable or high before starting it.
A study found that increasing doses of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol to 1 nanogram contributed to weight loss of 200 g. 25-hydroxycholecalciferol is a starting form of vitamin D circulating in the blood.
Simultaneous increase of the dose of the initial form and of vitamin D affects the excretion of fat from the body. The reduction of fat is mainly from the abdomen and pelvis.
Experts from the University of Minnesota believe that vitamin D deficiency is associated with the accumulation of fat, but so far do not know whether this is the cause or consequence of the disease - obesity. However, the results suggest that increased intake of vitamin D during a low-calorie diet helps to lose weight. Clinical tests are yet to be performed to determine the exact role of the vitamin in the weight loss process.
