Potassium bromate is a synthetic compound of bromic acid and lime, it is a white powder or crystals without a specific color. The E 924 additive has no odor. Due to its carcinogenic properties, in practice, it is not approved for use in any country in the world.

Use

Theoretically, potassium bromate can be used in the food industry as a means of improving the properties of bread and pasta, flour leavening agent, also the substance prevents the formation of lumps in it. The additive was once part of carbonated soft drinks, but at the beginning of the new millennium, most countries refused to add the substance to food due to its adverse effects on the human body.

Impact on humans

Numerous tests of E 924 show extremely unfavorable results . It has been found that the substance is a powerful carcinogen and actively causes the development of cancer cells. As a result, the substance is excluded from the list of food additives in most countries.
