Put the sugar in a large shallow dish. Press the cut side of the bananas to the sugar so that the crystals stick to the fruit.
Heat a frying pan and bake the bananas with the cut side down for about 2-3 minutes until golden. Put in a plate, with the peel down.
Serve with ice cream balls and sprinkle with caramel popcorn.
