Regular consumption of tea suppresses the harmful effects of unhealthy foods on the body, according to a new study by scientists from the University of Kobe, Japan. The study was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

 

A group of volunteers is divided into two groups. One group is subjected to an unhealthy diet rich in fat and calories, the other - to a normal diet. For 14 weeks, people in both groups regularly drank green or black tea.
 


The results show that both types of tea suppress weight gain, accumulation of excess fat and reduce unwanted changes in blood sugar levels, says Dr. Carrie Rickston of Tea Advisory Panel.

 


Regular consumption of tea can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, Parkinson's disease, some cancers and the accumulation of cholesterol on the walls of blood vessels.

 

Prolonged consumption of black or green tea in the order of 10 years can improve joint density.
